Aircraft Painter - Glo Custom

We have selected Glo Custom to paint our plane. They have a great reputation for painting RV's and they understand the homebuilders need for quality, light plane aircraft painting at a fair (not cheap) price.  Glo Custom is a privately owned and operated business incorporated in 1992. Grady and Angie O'Neal offer private aircraft owners a complete quality painting service. In addition, GLO Custom offers hands-on service unparallel in the aircraft painting business. They have been in the business for over 20 years and have an excellent reputation for their workmanship.

They are located at North West Regional Airport (52F). The largest privately owned airport in the United States, and home to over 550 aircraft. 15 miles North West of DFW International Airport.
Their business is conveniently located adjacent to the airstrip.

This is another plane that Grady was finishing  before mine, but I don't know who the builder is.

Painting N947RV

Feb 27th I ferried N947RV to Grady's shop in Fort Worth TX. I had great fun flying our new plane almost 1000 miles in 5.7 hours, even though I had headwinds of 30-50knts. Check out the Gamin 3GX below, I love this panel and I love Garmin for all the support the X team has given us.

I spent Monday taking the plane apart for painting with Brandon. A great guy working with Grady for almost 20 years. He is very knowledgable about RV's to say the least. I think they have painted almost 300 RV's with many repeat customers on their 2nd or 3rd plane being painted in Grady's shop. A real tribute to their skills and capabilities

The process starts with a wash, alodine and then the primer, this is the first picture back and I just left 4 days ago. It's hard not to get excited about having such a beautiful plane to fly around this great country

A teaser from the painter, he said this was a difficult process getting the N number right per the plan.

Another teaser from the the painter showing a small part of the wing.

Well I may be prejudiced and somewhat biased, but I kind of really like the looks of this plane. The thing is, it looks even better in the flesh in the sun light.

We just love our prop and spinner, besides the great climb performance, it ads greatly to the planes presence
