Sensors and Instrumentation:

Garmin GMU 22 magnetometer mount

Picture
We have been riveting the bottom skin in place and wanted to have the mount for the magnetometer ready for mounting. Since we are ahead of Vans on this, we made one using .040 Alclad.
Picture
Stein sent us the ring mount for the Garmin GMU 22 and we got the dimensions from the Garmin manual.
Picture
This is a simple "U" mount that we bent on our 18" hand brake and match drilled to the previously purposed Dynon ADHARS mount and the Garmin mounting ring. The magnetometer will now drop in and get attached with 3 screws.
Picture
Rafael build up this flap position sensor using the Ray Allen Co. POS 12. He used a couple of rod end bearings from my 35% RC aircraft and a 4/40 all thread rod to allow for adjustments. This is different than Vans plans but we believe it is a good improvement. Not that there is a lot of strength required for this application, but it is adjustable, stronger and eliminates the slop from using a bent wire.

This is a close up of the RC hardware we used
Picture
These RC rod ends are designed to handle considerable loads in 35% aerobatic aircraft so this is probably overkill, but the ball ends allow for slight misalignments with out friction and the threaded rods allow for length adjustment, what could be better.
